When we talk about celebrities we often relate the word to sports stars, Hollywood personalities or individuals from the entertainment industry without realizing that the people who feed these individuals are also celebrity chefs. They are known for their culinary skills and are ranked among the richest chefs of the world.
When the richest of the world is considered one of the first names that springs to mind are that of Gordon Ramsay who has featured on the list of 100 richest celebrities published by Forbes. Gordon Ramsay undoubtedly featured on the list but he has been featured on the list for reasons other than his culinary skills. Ramsay is still not in the position where he can make the cake, have it and eat it too. As far as culinary skills are concerned Ramsay is just one more name among the richest chefs of the world. We will now take a look at some of the others.
Bobby Flay – net worth $6 million
Bobby Flay has his own cookbooks, restaurants, and two shows just like many other chefs which are bringing him the profits he desires. Flay had aspirations to become a chef at the young age of eight and had requested for an oven during his birthday. He dropped out of high school when he was 17 and began working setting salads in a restaurant. He was sent to the French culinary school by his sponsor after his skills were recognized. Presently he is working with 10 restaurants some of which are his own and at others as an executive chef. He is also a member of the Culinary Hall of Fame.
Buddy Valastro is famous for his reality show “Cake Boss” which is his biggest success and the show has also been beneficial for his business Carlos Bake Shop as well. Carlos’s Bakery is his family business which he took over at the age of 17. After the immense success of his TV show and popularity gained by the shop, he opened two new branches in New York and New Jersey. He presently has three Shows on TLC which are Cake Boss, Kitchen Boss, And Next Great Baker.
Julia Child – net worth $38 million
Being a top chef was not sufficient for Julia Child who is also an author and a TV personality. She is considered as the individual introduced French cuisine to the Americans. Julia Child passed away in 2004 when she was 91 years old but she was extremely active by hosting 15 culinary shows until 2000.
Rachel Ray – net worth $75 million
Few people would not know Rachel Ray who has a favorite TV show named after her and one of the most popular celebrity chefs apart from being listed as one of the richest. She is also the host of several other shows and has won the Emmy awards for her shows which were awarded for being the Best Outstanding Service Show & Best Outstanding Talk Show. The list of books she has published some of which are popular sellers is endless.
Wolfgang Puck – net worth $75 million
Puck has an income source from his excellent culinary skills, acting and business insight. He has been accredited as the official chef of the Academy Awards and that of 20 restaurants, TV shows and cookbooks which have made them popular in the industry. Puck began learning his trade from his mother and first showed an interest in making pastries and his first cookbook was only released in 1981 which was a bestseller and soon thereafter he opened his first restaurant called Spago. The restaurant has a ranking as the top in the United States and has remained at that position ever since 2014.
Gordon Ramsay – net worth $175 million
Gordon Ramsay’s source of income is from his restaurants and television shows and he always manages to stay in the limelight because of his short-tempered nature. He is the host of the television programs Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares & Hells Kitchen. He also has a three-star eatery in London which brings him approximately €80,000 in profits every month. He is however unapologetic of his behavior on TV or in the kitchens throughout the globe where he has worked and continues to make life hell for everyone.
Jamie Oliver – net worth $400 million
Jamie Oliver is not just a famous name but is also a true celebrity. He is known for his extracurricular activities despite being a chef and appears in popular cookery shows. He also organizes events and has written cookery books and had training for aspiring young chefs. His restaurant Jamie’s Italian also brings in significant profits and he has now expanded his restaurants from 17 to 27 in number.
These are the names of just the richest chefs of the world and do not belong to the Forbes top 100 list of the richest people in the world.
