MOST EXPENSIVE LOCK OF HAIR
First up, is none other than the King of Rock and Roll’s strand of hair. Yes, a strand of his hair was put up for auction and the winning bid was $115,000. It was actually sold in 2002 to Thomas B Morgan, and the hair is kept inside a frame alongside a photo of Elvis.
Elvis Presley was an American icon, he was known to be a singer, songwriter, and an actor, he was actually known to be one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. Some of his famous songs were ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, ‘Jailhouse Rock’, and ‘Love Me Tender’. He, unfortunately, died at such a young age of 42 because of a heart attack. Fortunately, a man named Homer Gill Gilleland saved a few strands of Elvis’ hair when he cut and colored it back in the day. He started selling Elvis’ strands of hair after he died in 1977.

This next one is considered to be the most expensive painting that had been auctioned. The winning bid was $120 million and it was auctioned in 2012. It was none other than ‘The Scream’ by Norwegian expressionist, Edvard Munch. He actually did four versions of it on both paintings and pastels, he did it for almost ten years. The artwork displays a figure that has an agonized expression with a tumultuous orange sky in the background. It was the fourth version that was sold in 2012 to a financier named Leon Black. It was one of the world-class artworks that have been stolen more than once from a museum.

Next up is a vintage dress worn by one of the most iconic actresses of her time, Marilyn Monroe. The famous tight-fitting nude colored sparkling dress was actually exclusively sold for $1.26 million in an auction in 1999, it was apparently really made exclusively for Monroe by designer, Jean Louis, and it cost $12,000 at that time. It was considered to be one of her most iconic dresses because she wore it at President John F. Kennedy’s 45th birthday. The dress was covered with 2,500 rhinestones which made it really fancy.
MOST EXPENSIVE MANUSCRIPT
Last but definitely not the least is the $30 million worth of manuscript that was bought by one of the world’s wealthiest people, Bill Gates. He got it in 1994 and it is today’s most expensive book/manuscript ever sold. It was Leonardo da Vinci’s “Codex Leicester”.
It was believed to be written between the years of 1506 and 1510, it consists of 72 pages that consist of different sketches and diagrams. It was actually written in mirror-image style, where the words are read from right to left instead of left to right. The manuscript was all about Da Vinci’s thoughts when it comes to the water and the relationship of the moon to the sun and the earth.
