5 Highest Paid TV Stars In 2017

We have entered the golden age of TV. Gone are the days where aspiring actors would try out for TV roles in the hopes of building their careers as they look for other opportunities to land movie roles in the future. TV stars now are already some of the highest paid entertainers. It is not even surprising to see big movie stars appear on TV once in a while. TV has evolved to something really competitive when it comes to putting out money and here are some people who have been lucky enough to have the advantage.

Mark Harmon

Mark Harmon has appeared in a wide variety of TV roles since the early 1970s and still continues to be active up to this day. Some of his notable roles include being Simon Donovan on “The West Wing,” for which he received an Emmy Award in 2002. He also played Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS.”

This is also why he is fifth on this list, because producers and co-cast members can count on this TV veteran to deliver great performances. Harmon is worth $20 million and is one of the highest paid TV actors these days.

Kunal Nayyar

Kunal Nayyar rose to prominence in his role as Rajesh Koothrappali in the CBS science sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.” Since the success of the show can be largely attributed to Nayyar’s performance, he has been consistently listed as one of the highest paid TV actors for many years already. For this year, he is fourth on the list and is reported to be earning $22 million.

Other than being Raj, Kunal also has a career as an author. When not on TV, he is also a best-selling non-fiction writer. His memoir titled “Yes, My Accent is Real” was a hit for a lot of people, even for those who are not fans of “The Big Bang Theory.”

Simon Helberg

Another “The Big Bang Theory” actor on this list is Simon Helberg, who appears on the show as Howard Wolowitz. TBBT has been noted as one of the highest grossing TV shows in history, so it is no surprise that its actors are some of the highest paid, too. Helberg has a large contribution to the show and is one of the reasons why it became as popular it is now. In fact, he won a Critic’s Choice Television Award in 2013 for his performance.

Helberg also had prior work on the sketch series “Mad TV.” He even appeared in less popular movies but he was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture for his work in “Florence Foster Jenkins,” where he portrayed Cosme McMoon.

Johnny Galecki

Johnny Galecki started out as David Healy in the sitcom Roseanne, which he portrayed from 1992 to 1997. He also appeared in several films before he landed the role of Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in “The Big Bang Theory.” Forbes reports that, thanks to the show’s tremendous success, Galecki would be enlisted for a $1 million per episode salary, which in turn would make him earn $24 million.

Jim Parsons

One “Big Bang Theory” actor after another has made it on the list, so it might not be surprising to see it topped by no other than the star himself, Sheldon Cooper who is helmed by Jim Parsons. The success of “The Big Bang Theory” has made its actors some of the highest paid in the industry and as the star thereof, Jim Parsons has risen to be the king of TV when it comes to pay checks. He also reportedly earns $1 million per episode.

Whether it is about a veteran TV entertainer or some people who have contributed to the success of what could be the most successful TV show ever, there are a lot of ways to make it big in the entertainment industry. James Gandolfini reportedly earned $1 million per episode when “The Sopranos” was still running on HBO. Kaley Cuoco, the actress that would complete the TBBT lead star trio, also earns $1 million per episode. Although stars from “The Big Bang Theory” dominate the list this time, stars from other shows are expected to be seen in the future as salaries of TV stars escalate. What do you think of this list?
