Tyler Perry Just Joined this Exclusive Club of Wealthy Celebrities–Find Out How He Achieved the Feat

While a lot of celebrities can boast of having envy-worthy personal fortunes, not many of them have earned the privilege of becoming a member of an exclusive club of ultrawealthy stars.
According to the latest count, there are only five people who can call themselves a billionaire in the entertainment industry. But now that director Tyler Perry’s fortune has officially reached the billion-dollar mark, the celebrity billionaires list just grew a little longer.
In celebration of his achievement, let’s take a look at his media empire and see how he spends his hard-earned wealth.
Tyler’s Media Empire

The 50-year-old entertainer’s empire can be broken down into several key areas as identified by Forbes. Perry’s $1 billion fortune is comprised of various investments, cash, his studio complex in Atlanta, Georgia, and a stake in BET+.
The Louisiana native began his career in entertainment on the theater stage before jumping over to making movies in 2005. He wrote and starred in his film, ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman’, which also jumpstarted the Madea series of movies he’s best known for.
Since then, he’s signed on lucrative partnerships with Viacom and the Oprah Winfrey Network. After years of collaborating, Perry’s stake in BET, which is owned by Viacom, has grown to $60 million.
The five other billionaires in Hollywood are Oprah Winfrey, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and John de Mol.

While he isn’t busy writing, directing, or acting in his film productions, Perry spends his time relaxing in one of his luxury real estate properties.
His impressive portfolio includes an eight-bedroom mansion in Beverly Hills. The 22-acre hilltop residence is located in the gated community of Beverly Ridge Estates and has notably housed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the quarantine.
Perry also used to own a sprawling 34,000-square-foot residence in Atlanta. He reportedly bought the property in 2007 for $9 million and sold it for $17.5 million in 2016.
Generous Benefactor

The newly-minted billionaire isn’t just about making and spending money though. Perry has notably used his abundant resources to help those in need.
For example, he reportedly used his $150 million private jet to have necessities flown over to the Bahamas for those affected by Hurricane Dorian in 2019. More recently, he paid for the grocery bills of people who were at a higher risk of suffering from COVID-19.
Then there’s The Perry Foundation, which has been working on causes related to education, health, and human rights since 2006.
