Bizarre Beaches From Around The World
People around the world are looking to have a great day at the beach with the sun, sand and the surf. It is common for people to believe that all beaches are similar and have sparkling blue or green waters that will give them plenty of pleasure. However, do people know about the bizarre beaches from around the world?
However, the beaches we are going to describe are different from the popular perception held by people. These beaches are some of the most notable in the world because of their incredible beauty and unique offerings. A few belong on this list, not because of their looks but because they are unique for different reasons.
Here are the bizarre beaches from around the world.
The Papakolea: The Green Sand Beach Of Hawaii
The Papakolea is one of the four green sand beaches in the world and is made up of a hollowed out volcanic cone that erupted over 50,000 years ago. The cone has rich veins of a natural mental which is identified as olivine which can be cut into gem form when it is known as a semiprecious stone called peridot. The eroded pieces of olivine also done into sand which is too fine to be sold as gemstones but is good enough to color the shade of the entire beach green. Getting to the beach is not easy unless you are prepared to go through several difficulties without finding any help from lifeguards who are in any way not posted out here.
Kaihalulu: The Red Sand Beach Of Hawaii
Hawaii seems to have beaches of all colors including white, gold, black, green, and even red. The color of the sand at the Kaihalulu Beach in Hawaii is directly related to the and the mineral content around the beach. The rocks around the shore of the Kaihalulu beach are in fact the remnants of an active volcano which has since eroded into just a rocky cove. This volcanic cone seems to have a high content of iron which has a rusty red appearance when it is mixed with salt, air and sea mist. This beach is a great place to snorkel because the underwater cone of the volcano creates a partial seawall that ensures that the water at the beach is fairly calm. Visitors are however cautioned to exercise Care near the Cove opening because of strong currents that can put swimmers into the open ocean.
The Most Polluted Beach On Earth
You probably think about a pristine paradise when you hear about an uninhabited remote island. However with all the plastic pollution in the ocean and when no one visits the island clearly indicates there is no one to clean the trash. This is exactly the position that Henderson Island which is a 14 square-mile island in the South Pacific and is located nearly 3000 miles away from the closest population center is one of the most polluted islands in the world.
This small island has over 38,000 pounds of plastic and collects 3570 pieces of trash every day because it is washed up on the shores. The island is also located in the path of the biggest currents in the Pacific and therefore is the perfect place to collect all the trash floating in the Pacific.
The Hot Water Beach In New Zealand
The Ocean is not the biggest attraction at New Zealand’s hot water Beach unlike other beaches in the world. Visitors come to this place from different locations to enjoy the warm underground river which happens to flow right into the Pacific. A couple of hours before and after low tide visitors to the beach and hit the hot water as it bubbles through the beach sand. One of the most common activities along this beach is to dig a nice pool in the sand and build a hot spring spa.
The pools will be washed away during the next tide leaving behind a pristine patch of sand for the next batch of visitors who may be interested in digging their own Sandy bath tubs. Visitors are however warned that the hot water Beach has some very strong rip currents and therefore despite being refreshing to soak in the Warm Springs and thereafter plunge in the cool ocean it would be better to avoid the urge unless there is a lifeguard around or the visitor is a strong swimmer.
